Historian - Speaker, Actor, and Author

As a historian, writer, speaker, and actor, Dr. Gray has developed brilliant and historically accurate portrayals of eight of America’s greatest citizens: Presidents Washington, Jefferson, A. Johnson, Garfield, T. Roosevelt and FDR, plus General of the Army, Douglas MacArthur, and Barry Goldwater. Stained Glass Consultant and Author

Dr. Gary M. Gray, stained glass consultant, has inspected and appraised stained glass in some two thousand churches and synagogues. He has conducted stained glass work in every state and is the author of twelve books. His newest book, The Stained Glass Appraisal Guide, is a must read for everyone concerned with the preservation of stained glass windows. This appraisal guide is the first how-to book for religious institutions, church insurance companies, and the entire stained glass industry. This full-color, 256-page guide contains research results from 30 major stained glass studios. Learn how to plan for new stained glass and how to restore, protect and insulate existing stained glass. As an independent stained glass consultant working with the major American stained glass studios, Dr. Gray creates pictorial evaluations, comprehensive appraisals, and assists churches with all their stained glass needs. Background

He holds graduate degrees from Phillips University, Southern Methodist University and Notre Dame University. He also holds an American University Professional Certificate in Church Management and a D.Ed. from Oklahoma State University.

Early in his career, Dr. Gray was the Executive Director of the National Institute on Church Management where he taught and consulted with thousands of ministers, church administrators, and military chapel administrators on the concept of mission oriented management. The NICM was sanctioned by the National Association of Church Business Administration. Writing along with his brother, Dr. Robert N. Gray, the five-volume Managing the Church series served as pioneer volumes in this new and evolving profession. In 1996, Dr. Gray was named to the Church Management Hall of Fame.

He has also been the editor of two Christian magazines.

William S. Worley

Historical Consultant, Teacher and Author, Dr. William S. Worley has a Ph.D. in History from the University of Kansas, an M.A. in Religious Studies (emphasis in American Religious History) from Colgate-Rochester Divinity School, and a B.A. in English from Kansas State University, Dr. Worley is grounded in Midwestern values and understands the role and function of church congregations in contemporary America.

With teaching and administrative experience at Kansas Wesleyan (United Methodist) University and Sterling (Presbyterian) College in Kansas, as well as in other venues, he understands the role of American religion in education and society.

Together with Dr. Gary Gray, one of the country’s foremost consultants in stained glass conservation and renewal, Dr. Worley offers both stained glass expertise and leadership in ACSG’s new Church History consulting service.

Dr. Robert N. Gray (1927 - 2002)
NW Oklahoma Historian and Author,
University Administrator And Teacher

Robert N. Gray wrote nine books about the impact historical events had on his community in Northwest Oklahoma. He claimed 21 relatives directly involved in the great run into the Cherokee Strip on September 16, 1893. He was born on the west edge of the Chisholm Trail where Vance Air Force Base is now, and lived on the east edge of the Chisholm Trail in Gray Ridge.

He served two military tours after high school. After graduating from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, he taught there for thirteen years. He retired as Director of Education for the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission after serving as Dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Central Oklahoma. He held earned doctorates from both Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma.

Carrie Crow, ACSG vice president of communications and research, has worked with Dr. Gray since 2005. She holds a degree in public relations from Campbell University and a master's degree in international studies from Oklahoma State University as a Wes Watkins Distinguished Graduate Fellow.
